About OPIF

Under Ohio Revised Code 1345.05, the Ohio Attorney General is to make available for public inspection all rules, statements of policy, or interpretations used in carrying out the duties of the office. Also to be made available are final court decisions involving consumer law cases. These are cases where the courts have ruled a specific act or practice violates sections 1345.02, 1345.03, or 1345.031 of the Ohio Revised Code.

It is the responsibility, pursuant to Ohio Revised Code 1345.09(E), of each county Clerk of Courts to provide the Attorney General with final decisions rendered in consumer actions.

The cases within the Public Inspection File can benefit consumers with future claims of violations by enhancing monetary damages.

You may request a certification that a case appears in OPIF by using the Search OPIF link and following the search and certify request instructions.
